ScalaMAD: Scala Programming @ Madrid - MAKING THE MOST OF SCALA THROUGH FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMING

Wednesday 6 June 2018, 18:30 - 19:30

La N@ve Calle Cifuentes, 5, 28021, Madrid, España

SUMMARY You may have already experienced that Scala allows you to program asif you were still using Java. While lowering entry barriers tonewcomers is great, let's not forget that a significant source ofpower for Scala lies in its support for functional programming. Thistalk describes three major functional abstractions that will help youto achieve unprecedented levels of reuse and modularity, while keepingyour code concise and readable: higher-order functions, type classesand monadic functions. SPEAKER Juan Manuel Serrano, CTO, Habla Computing JOINT MEETUP The talk will be part of a joint meetup with the Haskell and Rust groups. Besides this talk on Scala, there will be two more about Haskell and Rust. Each talk will be allocated 30 minutes. The schedule will be published as soon as possible.
