London Python - Practical Intro to PyGame ... For Fun and Education
Tuesday 25 October 2016, 20:00 - 21:00
10 South Place, EC2M 7EB, London, Reino Unido
Python can be fun, creative and educational too!
We're really pleased to have a special joint meetup with the huge and active CodeClub community who also love Python! CodeClub is a network of free, volunteer-led, after-school coding clubs for children aged 9 to 11.
We're lucky to have CodeClub's Dan Elwick to lead a hands-on overview of PyGame, a great framework for creating exciting games. PyGame is also helping to teach programming and computer science concepts in a fun way. Bring a laptop if you'd like to follow Dan's tutorial in a relaxed supportive group setting.
We'll also have a shorter talk by Céline Boudier who is doing inspirational work through Code for Life, helping teachers and enthusiastic students learn computing through fun and accessible games. Their first and very successful app, RapidRouter, helps bridge the gap between coding with blocks and coding with real Python.
This meetup is open to everyone .. you don't need to be an expert or have previous experience at all. It'll be particularly useful to anyone who wants to have fun making your own games, and anyone involved in teaching children (and grown ups) to code.
