London Python - Create your own DSL with Python: Introduction to parser generators

Thursday 28 July 2016, 19:30 - 20:30

10 Jamestown Road London, Greater London NW1 7BY, London, Reino Unido

Maciej Dziardziel will talk about making a domain-specific language (DSL) with Python. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain-specific_language When developers work with experts from other domains, it is often beneficial to allow them to encode their knowledge using a domain-specific language. In this talk Maciej will present concepts and tools that can be used for this purpose, including AST, parsers and parser generators. He'll also present an example of what can be easily achieved with Python. Since this meetup follows on from EuroPython we think that this is an excellent opportunity to kick-off lightning talks and community announcements with any exciting news or gossip from Python’s big week in Bilbao. If anyone is already speaking in Bilbao you are welcome to do a lightning version of your talk on the 28th, or if you learn something that you’d like to share then you also have a platform on the 28th. Please let us know in advance it you wish to do either.
