Tuesday 21 April 2015, 20:00 - 21:00
116-120 Goswell Road, London, Reino Unido
Hi all, It's time for April's meetup! This time we are going to discussing MongoDB new driver generation, with particular focus on our new Java Driver (3.0) We are going to have one of or JVM engineers, Ross Lawley (@rossc0) presenting the new generation of drivers and their specs. We are also getting sponsorship from O'Reilly so expect some goodies to be raffled among the attendees, on the back of the Strata London Conference Skillsmatter also kindly asks us to register on this here: https://skillsmatter.com/meetups/7119-new-generation-of-drivers Abstract======The start of the next generation. Its been a long time coming but the next generation of MongoDB drivers are starting to be released. As a driver team we've collaborated and started to design common themes across languages, to help normalise and clarify the behaviour of our drivers. Using the new 3.0 Java driver as the example, we'll look at some of the new interfaces and design decisions that are helping shape these next generation of drivers. In the second part of the talk we go reactive and introduce the new asynchronous java driver. We'll look at some of the challenges going asynchronous on the JVM and how this new driver is being used as the foundation for a new Reactive Stream Driver and a new Scala Driver. Bio===Ross Lawley - JVM Software Engineer. Ross joined MongoDB as a Python Software Engineer and since then has moved onto the JVM, first learning and taking over the Casbah the Scala driver and then joining the Java team to help shape the Java driver. In a previous life Ross was a technical architect at Streetlife and a tech lead at Europes biggest commercial radio owner Global Radio.
