Join the LJC for an evening of talks this June with Peter Morgan and Steve Poole. In our first talk, 'Towards a General Theory of Intelligence', Peter Morgan will take a look at the latest developments in AI research and implementation. The development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is going to require algorithms that can take us far beyond deep learning and the simple image classifiers this was originally developed to solve. These AGI systems will need to do things like inductive reasoning, planning and optimal learning. Peter will talk about some of the latest approaches to solving general intelligence now underway using GPUs and other purpose-built hardware as well as algorithmic approaches to solving and building general intelligence systems. Peter is CEO at Deep Learning Partnership, a consultancy addressing emerging technologies, especially AI and blockchain http://www.deeplp.com ***This is a placeholder for the event which is being run on Eventbrite. Whether improved memory footprint, new operating modes, different deployment models or even new hardware the future of Java in the Cloud is demanding more than ever before. Over the last year or so much has been happening to Java the JVM and the Java ecosystem. Yet there is so much more to come. In this talk hear how the Java application stack, the related open source technologies and the Java ecosystem is changing to meet the demands of Cloud. Learn what has happened so far and what more there is to come. Whether improved memory footprint, new operating modes, different deployment models or even new hardware the future of the Java in the Cloud is demanding more of developers and IT teams alike. This talk will help you understand the economic and technical forces driving the evolution of Java and will show you a future thats even more amazing than you might imagine. Out with the old and in with the new. Are you ready? Steve is a Developer Advocate and long time IBM Java developer, leader and evangelist who has been working on IBM Java SDKs and JVMs since Java was less than 1. He's a member of the Adopt OpenJDK group championing community involvement in OpenJDK and a seasoned speaker and regular presenter at JavaOne and other conferences on technical and software engineering topics. ***This is a placeholder for the event which is being run on Eventbrite.
