Lisbon Open Data Meetup - Introduction to Data Science (for newbies!)

As promised, the next meetup will be an introduction to data science! This one is for people with no prior experience, and will go through the basics of how to prepare data for a classifier, and how to use your first machine learning algorithm. It is at Academia de Código, who have generously sponsored this event with the location. As for speakers, we'll have the following: • Pedro Fonseca - How to find, input and prepare data for Machine Learning • Ekaterina Stambolieva - How to train and use machine learning algorithms The pre-requisites are a (basic) understanding of Python, and nothing else. We really recommend this one only for those who are only taking the first steps with machine learning. Looking forward to seeing you there! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Important notice: There have been a number of people who have RSVP'd positively, and have repeatedly either cancelled last second or not shown up. This has lead to people who could have shown up being turned away. To avoid this, we shall from now on be implementing a new policy by which cancellations must occur at least 24 hours before the event. Anyone who reserves a place and does not use it will unfortunately have to be turned down from later events. While we understand that sometimes "life just happens", we must do our best to guarantee that those who are interested get a seat. We are organizing this for free and on our own time, and want to make sure that everyone has the chance to participate. Therefore, please reserve seats responsively, and if you think you might not make it, cancel with enough time to let someone else get the place.
