Lisbon Open Data Meetup - Data to improve Lisbon's life - hackathon prep

This time, we hack Lisboa! We have prepared 2 short talks to you to get us all in the mood for the Smart Open Lisboa hackathon. We partner with the guys from UX+Service design meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Lisbon-UX-and-Service-Design/) and Beta-i (http://beta-i.pt/). At the event, we can choose an idea we like to develop, team up and make it happen at the days of the hackathon. Extended hackathon application deadline is June 27th - register at http://www.smartopenlisboa.com/ Here is the info about the two talks: 1) Learn by example: explore what other smart cities have done - Ekaterina Stambolieva (with the great help of Diana Vieira Fernandes) 2) Insights on open data and basic strategies in using it to improve the city's life - speaker to be announced Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important notice: There have been a number of people who have RSVP'd positively, and have repeatedly either cancelled last second or not shown up. This has lead to people who could have shown up being turned away. To avoid this, we shall from now on be implementing a new policy by which cancellations must occur at least 24 hours before the event. Anyone who reserves a place and does not use it will unfortunately have to be turned down from later events. While we understand that sometimes "life just happens", we must do our best to guarantee that those who are interested get a seat. We are organizing this for free and on our own time, and want to make sure that everyone has the chance to participate. Therefore, please reserve seats responsively, and if you think you might not make it, cancel with enough time to let someone else get the place
