Remember to sign up through this link (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ironhack-privalia-tech-moving-away-from-legacy-using-kafka-streams-tickets-50396553448) to reserve your free spot. :) We are happy to invite you to come and learn very useful insights from Privalia Tech Experience. Event Description: Legacy is hard and is quite extended in all major online players with more than 5 years in the market. Dealing with it it's not an easy task on the everyday work of development teams. Traditionally business teams fear the word "Refactoring" and keep on pushing new functionalities in the legacy. In this session we are going to explain how Privalia is managing to move away from legacy without impacting business operations using Kafka and Kafka Streams. We are in a transition phase from our Monolith to a decoupled event based microservices architecture. And we are migrating each functional block to a set of microservices and hydrating both systems with Kafka. Also, with Kafka Streams we've been able to reduce the amount of intermediate services and infrastructure and achieve real time data processing that benefits all Privalia's daily operations. We are going to explain the problem with legacy and monolithic architectures that many companies have and what has been the strategy of Privalia to move away from it. We are going to be focusing on technical details of Kafka, Kafka Streams, Spring Kafka and Transactionality. And will be doing a demo showing code of all of it. We will explain all of it from different points of view: general engineering strategy (Marc), architecture decisions (David) and implementation development details (Jonathan).
