Docker Madrid - Docker Meetup @CampusMadrid

Monday 21 May 2018, 19:00 - 20:00

Campus Madrid, Calle de Manzanares, 1, Madrid, España

May's Meetup hosted by Campus Madrid sponsored by MasMovil SCHEDULE 19:10 Marcos Peñate Sánchez and Javier Cortejoso: Docker VS Java: Behind the walls (in Spanish) How can Java think its resources go farther than the cgroups restrctions and how can this generate bottlenecks. For example, processes spawning threads as if they had 8 processors when in reality they have only 1 for the container and they all end up fighting for the same resources. Marcos is QA Engineer at ElevenPaths (Telefonica) focused on Big Data solutions and CyberSecurity, in the past he has been involved into projects making risk analysis, developing security layers for distributed apps, performance testing and defining architectures based on containers. He is also passionate about astrophysics, a compulsive #SciFi consumer and enjoys Dockerizing everything. Connect with him on twitter @marcosmi5. Javier works as Devops and Cloud engineer at Sngular. His professional experience includes big data technologies, automation, orchestration and distributed workloads. Since Pycon 2013 he has followed with interest the new world around Docker and containers. 19:50 J. Fernando Sánchez Rada: Can Docker be useful in environments without dev or ops? (in Spanish) In this talk we'll see how to take advantage of Docker for data analysis and research. We will deploy an environment with Gitlab, Jupyterhub and docker-nvidia from scratch.Jupyterhub is a distributed computing platform which we can access from our browser. Every users has her own isolated docker container. Additionally, we will cover how new members can use docker-compose to deploy local environments without prior knowledge. Fernando is a researcher at Grupo de Sistemas Inteligentes (GSI), in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He combines his research in data, sentiment and social network analysis with system and infrastructure administration. 20:30 Networking and Drinks by MásMóvil About Docker: Docker is an open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications. Consisting of Docker Engine, a portable, lightweight runtime and packaging tool, and Docker Hub, a cloud service for sharing applications and automating workflows, Docker enables apps to be quickly assembled from components and eliminates the friction between development, QA, and production environments.
